I turned 55 this week & I have been reflecting on life… And my family…
Often when I meet people & I tell them that I live between Australia (Melbourne) & New Zealand (Auckland) & that I have an office & a home in each city, then they ask which city my family is in.
I say, “Oh, they’re not anywhere – they’re dead!” And sometimes people look a bit shocked.
You see, it might sound blunt – but it’s the truth.
When I say my family is gone, I mean it.
My immediate family have all passed away.
And whilst I have other relatives – aunties, uncles & cousins – they’re all in Germany, Switzerland, South Africa & various other parts of the world.
So, the words might sound dramatic – but it’s not drama.
It’s perspective, shaped by great love, a deep loss & time that has allowed me to heal…
